Large Equipment Operators - Field Trip
Fourteen students from three school districts (Miami Yoder, Calhan and Elbert) visited the Large Equipment Operators Union #6 on Thursday, March 7 in the town oF Bennett (east of Denver).
Union #6 representatives told the students that the job market for large equipment operators is strong. They also told the students how the union could help students obatin their license and how quickly they could get to work. They also talked about the pay, over $25 an hour to start.
Students were allowed to work on a backhoe and a skid steer so they could get a taste of driving the type of machines they would see. Despite the cold day and blowing snow, the students had a great time.
