Pikes Peak BOCES Education Park will bring students together from eight Colorado school districts for career-connected learning on one centralized 87-acre campus.
The eight districts served by Pikes Peak BOCES (Board of Cooperative Educational Services) that will be involved in Pikes Peak Education Park are Big Sandy #100J, Calhan RJ1, Edison #54jt, Elbert #200, Ellicott #22, Hanover #28, Miami Yoder $60JT, and Peyton #23JT. Currently, these eight districts offer a wide range of career-connected learning programs, from cyber security to welding, from woodworking to criminal justice training. Because of the relatively small size of all eight districts, coupled with the difficulty of hiring trained teachers in rural Colorado, the eight districts are collaborating to build a single hub for career-connected learning. The vision is to provide high-quality, career-connected teaching and learning in close collaboration with industry and union professionals whenever possible. In addition, Pikes Peak Education Park will serve as the new home for the School of Excellence. The School of Excellence, which serves students with diverse social, emotional and behavioral needs, is currently located in Colorado Springs. |
